Chundikulam National Park is situated in Pachchilapalli in the Jaffna peninsula. It was previously designated as a bird sanctuary, precisely on 25 February 1938. Later on the 22nd of June 2015, it was designated as a national park and is administered by the Department of Wildlife Conservation in Sri Lanka. The surrounding area of the Chundikulam lagoon is covered with mangrove plants and consists of a wide variety of water and wader birds, leopard, deer, sloth bears and crocodiles.

Getting to Chundikulam National Park

From Jaffna travel along the Kandy – Jaffna Highway passing Chavakachcheri up to Pachchilapalli to reach the Chundikulam National Park.
