Manampitiya Bridge

The Manampitiya Bridge is a cantilever bridge situated on the Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway crossing the Mahaweli River.

The Manampitiya Bridge is a cantilever bridge situated on the Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway crossing the Mahaweli River. It is known to be the second longest bridge in Sri Lanka with a total length of 302 m. The Manampitiya Bridge consists of two bridges, one which is a steel bridge used for railway and a newer bridge with 2 lanes of highway. It is also known as The Sri Lanka-Japan Friendship Peace Bridge because the new bridge was constructed with financial assistance from Japan. Prior to the opening of the Kinniya Bridge in 2009, the Manampitiya Bridge was the longest bridge in Sri Lanka.
