Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya is an ancient historical temple which is situated in Mahiyanganaya in the district of Badulla. The temple is historical and scared because it is believed to be the site of Lord Buddha’s first visit to the island. Mahiyangana Rajamaha Viharaya belongs to the “Solosmasthana” which are the 16 sacred religious sites in the country. The temple has been named as an archaeological site by the Government of Sri Lanka.
