Alupola Ella is situated in Alupola in the Ratnapura district. It is 68 meters in height and derives its name from a tea estate located close by. Alupola Ella waterfall is served by a brook beginning at Kalugaldova on the southern slope of the Bathurugala Mountain. The surrounding area of the waterfall is home to many animals such as wild boar, sambur deer and reptiles. It is a place to be aware of leeches, so make sure to be equipped with adequate leech protection such as anti-leech socks.
Getting to Alupola Ella
From Belihuloya travel along the Colombo – Batticaloa Highway passing Aluthnuwara up to Balangoda. From there travel along the Balangoda – Rassagala – Uwella Road passing Rassagala and Uwella to reach the Alupola Ella.
