Alikota Ara is a reservoir situated in Pahala-Uva in Wellawaya. Its dam is 750 meters long and 28 meters high. It is built across the Alikota Ara stream, a tributary of the Kirindi Oya near Wellawaya. The reservoir feeds the Handapanagala tank. The reservoir is part of the Uma Oya Downstream Development Project in Wellawaya which commenced in 2014. This nature reserve is a beautiful sight to see for any traveller.
