Yaka Andu Ella Falls is situated in the Central province. It is 60 meters in height and is one of the many waterfalls belonging to the Sri Pada range. The waterfall can be seen above the Japanese Peace Pagoda in the Sri Pada route which goes through Nallathanniya. “Yaka Andu Ella” means “crying demon fall” which gets its name because a powerful demon king is said to have cried so hard for losing the land for Lord Buddha, that it formed this waterfall with his tears. Yaka Andu Ella Falls can be seen in the right slope of the Sri Pada Mountain after Sri Pada cascades.

Getting to Yaka Andu Ella Falls

From Kandy take the Nawalapitiya – Ginigathena Road and go past Peradeniya, Daulagala, Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Ginigathhena and Laxapana until Nallathanniya. Go along the route of the Sri Pada range to reach the Yaka Andu Ella Falls.
