Wadakada Ella Falls

Wadakada Ella Falls are situated in Wadakada village in the Kurunegala district.

Wadakada Ella Falls are situated in Wadakada village in the Kurunegala district. It stands at a height of 6 meters and is one of Sri Lanka’s artificial falls. It flows between the Paraigala and Handugala mountains. The waterfall cascades in to three segments.

The streams from Ginnerriya, Endagalla and Udapola meet at Wadakada village, creating the Wadakada falls. The woodland surrounding the area of the falls is home to diverse species of wildlife, including jungle fowl, leopard, fox etc. As per folklore the queens of King Walagamba bathed in the waters of the falls.

Getting to Wadakada Ella

From Kandy take the Colombo – Kandy Road passing Katugastota, Galagedara up until you reach Kurunegala. Go past Pothuhera to reach Wadakada Road and follow on this road up until you reach Wadakada Falls.
