St. Anthony’s Shrine is a popular Roman Catholic church situated in Kochchikade, Kotahena, Colombo 13. The church is dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua. It is dedicated as a national shrine and minor basilica. The church holds a tiny piece of Saint Anthony’s tongue which is preserved in a special glass case along with a statue of the saint located at the entrance to the church. The church was a target of the tragic Easter Sunday attacks on the 21st of April 2019. It was renovated and reopened for the public on 12th June 2019.
