Round Island Lighthouse is an offshore lighthouse which is situated in Round Island, Trincomalee. Also known as “Kevuliya”, it is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Round Island can be accessed via a boat in Trincomalee Bay, but at present it is closed for the public. The lighthouse was erected in 1863 and originally had a red light. However, it was changed to white in 1864. It stands at a height of 21 m on top of a small island in the Trincomalee bay.

Getting to Round Island Lighthouse

From Trinco travel approximately 15.6 km along the Trincomalee Highway up to the Koddiyar Bay and take a boat from there to reach the Round Island Lighthouse. Since it is not opened for the public, visitors can view it at a distance from the Koddiyar Bay.
