Pettah Bazaar is a famous shopping area found in Colombo. It is situated just outside of Colombo Fort. Buyers can find a variety of items for cheap prices and bargains at the Pettah Bazaar. It is a very busy area of the city and many street vendors and shops sell everything from clothes to electronic items, toys, fruits, jewellery household items and many more.

Exploring the streets of Pettah Bazaar

Pettah is Colombo’s busiest and most hectic shopping market both during weekdays and the weekend. It is a very colourful market with a Middle Eastern flair. Pettah Bazaar consists of narrow streets filled with an assortment of goods, tuk tuks and men pulling carts filled with a variety of goods. It is a great place to but local items in bulk and at very cheap prices. Pettah Bazaar is also the ideal place to try some local street food filled with Sri Lankan spices and yummy taste. Each road in Pettah Bazaar is dedicated for a particular type or types of goods such as fabrics, electronics, medical equipment, stationery items, jewellery, bags etc.

From Colombo travel along McCallum Road, York Street and Sir Baron Jayatilaka Mawatha up to China Street. Travel along China Street up to Main Street to reach the Pettah Bazaar.
