Pethangoda Uyana is an archaeological site which is situated in Waththegammadda in the Kegalle district. It is also known as Pethangoda Katu Una Pandura or Pethangoda Bamboo Grove. It is where King Rajasinghe I of the Seethawaka kingdom met his fate when he was pricked by a thorn from this peculiar bamboo tree, which killed him. Some say that it was the bite of a king cobra which inhabited the bamboo grove that killed the great king.
