Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre, formerly known as National Performing Arts Theatre is situated in Colombo 07. It is named after the former President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa. It is a performing arts theatre which opened in December 2011.

Concept of Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre

The theatre is built in the shape of a lotus flower and is inspired by the “Nelum Pokuna” pond in Polonnaruwa which was built by King Parakramabahu the Great. The building spreads over 14,000 square meters of floor area.
