National Zoological Gardens of Sri Lanka is a zoological garden situated in Dehiwala. It was founded in 1936 and includes a vast area which is host to a variety of animals and birds. Also called the “Colombo Zoo” or the “Dehiwala Zoo” it exhibits various species of mammals, reptiles, aquatic animals and birds. A day in the zoo consists of elephant dances, educational programs on chimps and sea lion performances.
