Morningside is situated off Suriyakanda, between Deniyaya and Rakwana, towards the east of the Sinharaja Rainforest in Southern Sri Lanka.

Morningside is situated off Suriyakanda, between Deniyaya and Rakwana, towards the east of the Sinharaja Rainforest in Southern Sri Lanka. It is a beautiful area which can be accessed using a 4WD. Although the location was popular for tea plantation during the British colonial era, it is now famous for cardamom production. Visitors can experience the entire process of cardamom production over here. Morningside has many birds endemic to Sri Lanka including the Grey Hornbill, Ceylon Lorikeet, Sri Lanka Jungle Fowl, Black Eagle, Ceylon Wood Pigeon and Ceylon Blue Magpie etc. It is also home to wildlife such as leopards, sambar and elephants.

Getting to Morningside

From Tangalle travel along the Tangalle – Weeraketiya Road, Weeraketiya – Middeniya Road, Kotapola – Urubokka – Mulatiyana Road, Batandura Road and Deniyaya – Galle Main Road passing Urubokka and Deniyaya to reach the Morningside which is situated off ‘Suriyakanda’ between Deniyaya and Rakwana.
