The Kandy Clock Tower is an iconic structure located at the heart of the Kandy town, on the intersections of Sri Dalada Veediya, S.W.R.D. Bandaranayake Mawatha and Hiragedara Mawatha. The clock tower was built by Haji Mohamed Ismail as a tribute to his son who died in an accident in Kadugannawa. Though it was built 1950, it was declared open in the next year by the Prime Minister of the time. D.S. Senanayake.
