Dunumadalawa is a forest reserve overlooking the city of Kandy and is also known as Wakarawatte or “Walker’s Estate”. The area forms the catchment of two reservoirs fed by Dunumadala Oya and RoseSneath Ela. It supplies water to the entire Kandy city. The forest has wild tea trees, jack trees and many other types of trees and plants. It also has a wide variety of wildlife including monkeys, deer, wildboars, porcupines and leopards.
