Dethispala Bodhi is a Buddhist temple which is situated along the Palavi-Kalpitiya Road in Kalpitiya. The history of the temple and its bodhi or ‘bo’ tree goes back to 300 BC during the reign of King Devanampiyatissa of the Anuradhapura kingdom. It is considered to be one of the 32 saplings of the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura. The site is considered to be a very sacred place in Kalpitiya.
