Dakkhina Stupa, also known as Dakshina Stupa, is a large stupa made out of brick which is situated in Anuradhapura. The stupa is believed to be from 2nd century BC and remains to have been unfinished. Although the site was mistakenly identified to be the tomb of Elara, prominent Archaeologist Professor Senarath Paranavithana identified it as Dakkhina Stupa in 1946. He also believed this site to be the location where King Dutugmunu was cremated.
