Dawson Tower is situated along the Colombo – Kandy Road in Kadugannawa in the central province of Sri Lanka. It is built in memory of Captain William Francis Dawson who died in 1829, at the time when he had undertaken construction of the Colombo – Kandy Road which began in 1820. Construction of the Dawson Tower was complete in 1832. The tower stands tall close to the famous Kadugannawa Pass.
