Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium is situated in Sooriyawewa in Hamobantota. It was built for the 2011 world cup for which it hosted two matches. The stadium has a capacity to accommodate 35,000 spectators and is the second largest stadium in Sri Lanka. The stadium has two ends namely Thanamalwila End and Sooriyawewa End.

Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium is also known as Sooriyawewa International Cricket Stadium. Established in 2009, the stadium hosted its first match on the 20th February 2011. The match was held between Sri Lanka and Canada which was won by the hosts. The stadium also hosted three twenty-twenty matches during the 2012 ICC T20 World Cup.
