A set of stone steps built in the rampart leads to the Galle Fort Beach. The beach can also be viewed from top of the ramparts. It is an ideal location to take photographs with the beautiful ocean glistening in the background. The Galle Fort Beach is less crowded than the more prominent Unawatuna Beach. So it can be a great choice for a quiet swim all by yourself or with family and friends.

Getting to Galle Fort Beach

From Galle go along Lower Dickson Road and then take 1st Cross Street to Wakwella Road. Go along Stadium Road and Baladaksha Mawatha and finally go about 400 meters down Hospital Street to find the Galle Fort Beach.
