The Central Point – Economic History Museum is located within the Central Point Building which is situated in Chatham Street, Colombo 01. Run by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, this currency museum was formally opened in 2013. The museum has a large and varied collection of coins dating back to the 3rd century. This includes coins from the ancient kingdoms of Sri Lanka such as the Anuradhapura kingdom, Polonnaruwa kingdom up to the Kotte kingdom, Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial eras and modern notes and coins issued for commemoration purposes.
