Beauty of Pahangala

Pahangala Mountain is approximately 300 m in height. A number of mountain ranges in Kurunegala, Matale and Kandy districts can be viewed from the top of Pahangala Mountain. Nelligala and Bathalegala Wewa are some of the popular attractions which can be viewed from the top of Pahangala. The name “Pahangala” for this mountain has an amazing story behind it. The Bathalegala Wewa is believed to have been built in one night with the help of the light coming from a large candle which was lighted at the top of Pahangala Mountain.

Getting to Pahangala

From Matale take the Kandy Road and go past Thotagamuwa, Palapathwela, Deevilla and Dodangaslanda until Ridigama. Travel along Keppetigala Road in Ridigama to reach Pahangala.
