Hawariyawala Ambalama is a wayside rest that is situated in Mattagoda in the Gampaha district. It is also known as “Awariyawala Ambalama” and “Mattagoda Ambalama”. According to folklore, this wayside rest is believed to have been built by King Walagamba. It is believed that the king’s wife used to bathe in a pond adjacent to it. Therefore, it is said that she comes to the wayside rest whenever she bathes in this pond. Hawariyawala Ambalama is designated as an archaeological protected monument in the Gampaha district.
